A good way to ensure that this is possible is to make it a point of never putting more on the line then you can afford to lose.

The first emotion you are going to need to learn to banish is anger, as it can cloud your judgment without you even realizing it. It is perfectly natural to feel angry when a trade that was going your way suddenly ends up costing your money, that doesn’t mean that it is ever the right choice to act on that anger as no good will come of it whatever you might believe at the moment.

While doing what the major players in the market do can be a reliable strategy, following the crowd at all times is not advisable in the long-term. Successful traders do their own research and trust themselves enough to act on the results they determine, even if they mean making trades that might seem unpopular at the moment. When it comes to seeking substantial payouts trading against the market is going to be the most likely, if not the most reliable, option. This is only the case if you do so for the right reasons, however, as being contrarian just for the fun of it isn’t going to get you any either.

Most of the market movement that takes place each day is caused by sheep who simply follow the crowd with no real idea as to why they are doing what they are doing. Successful traders don’t fall into this mindset; however, instead of being a sheep, you should strive to be a wolf, which means improving your intuition through a combination of practice and diligent study.
